Igorota Wins Best Actress Award in the 2018 ToFarm Film Festival

Maribeth "Mai" Fanglayan, from Mt. Province and a Baguio Girl, a graduate of Mass Communication in Saint Louis University, bagged the Best Actress award in the recently concluded 2018 ToFarm Film Festival awarding ceremony for her role in the Sinai Hamada's "Tanabata's Wife". She bested veteran actress Katrina Halili in "Mga Anak Ng Kamote" and Pokwang in "Sol Searching" in the category. Fanglayan is also being nominated as Best Actress in the 2019 Gawad Urian.



According to Fanglayan, she only accompanied a friend to audition for the role, but with a turn of event the role was given to her which she accepted as a challenging endeavor considering that she did not play a role in a full-length film before.

The film, actually, bagged 9 awards which include Miyuki Kamimura winning Best Actor; Best Directors for Charlson Ong, Lito Casaje and Choy Pangilinan; Best Screenplay for Charlson Ong; Best Production Design for Martin Masadao; Best Musical Score for May-i Padilla, Kurt Alalag and Marc Tan; Best Editing for May-i Padilla; Best Cinematography for Nap Jamir and Best Film.

ToFarm Film Festival is an annual festival of Filipino films related to agriculture, and it is in its third edition for 2018.

The movie was filmed in Buguias, Benguet and used Japanese, Kankanaey and Ilocano languages.
